The last several years has been an opportunity for reflection and reinvention. Many small business owners are creating their own path and many are rethinking how they want to show up for their audiences. Part of being a business owner is constantly reflecting on what’s happening in the world and finding ways to continue to provide value to your customers, while not losing the core of who you are and what your brand offers. This can be a hard challenge to balance.
As business owners, we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to have branding that is perfect because we know it’s not only what makes a memorable impression on customers, but also is what allows customers and clients to know what they can expect from us. Our branding is our identity and is our unique way of being able to distinguish ourselves from competitors and communicate what we offer and why we’re the ideal choice. This pressure is a great motivator for pushing us to do our due diligence and be thoughtful in the branding we’re building, but it can also be stressful to navigate if you don’t know where to start or what you want to communicate.
And that’s why I love working with business owners in Business & Branding sessions. It’s an opportunity for us to walk through discovery of your personality and how this is reflected in the brand you’ve built and where you want to take it. You see, each brand and business owner has its own personality and with so many influences out there, it’s increasingly difficult to know what’s you vs. what’s others saying you should be. When I work with clients, we take the time to unpack what drives you, your vision for your brand, your personality and essence, and we collaborate on how to bring this to life in ways that are going to grab your audience’s attention.
A few questions to ask when preparing for your business and branding photoshoot for 2023:
1. What do you want your audience to feel when they see your photos or landing page? Do you want them to feel energized and inspired, or calm and content?
2. What is your personality / tone? Are you humorous, warm and inviting, or serious?
3. What do you feel is missing from your current branding that you’d like to see change? Do your colors feel stale, or do you feel like you’re just not connecting with your audience?
What questions can we help you work through as you’re considering your Business & Branding shoot for 2023?

Kicking off a new year brings so many possibilities. It’s one of our favorite times of the year when we see so many entrepreneurs and businesses with such momentum and energy for the growth to come. Each brand has its own story to tell – one of overcoming obstacles and providing value for the clients and customers it serves. As a business, it’s important that your customers and clients see you beyond just a product they buy and instead see you as a brand or person they want as part of their daily life. Customers want to see who your brand is and what it values, and the best way to convey that is through connecting with them as a person.
That’s where we can help!
When considering how you’ll use photography and branding to tell your story for your business, you should consider what’s important in a photographer. Imperative to your success is the ability of your branding photographer to help you use props, angles, tone, and style to tell the story of your brand and connect with your customers quickly. Choosing your aesthetic appropriately can make all the difference in what your photos convey, so it’s important to get this right. Wardrobe choice, location choice, and more should all be consistent across your marketing channels, as well as consistent with what your audience expects to see from you.
Branding photography is truly one of the best ways to establish your brand and story and is one of the most important assets that contribute to your success and brand growth. As you begin setting the stage for your success this year, we invite you to book with us and take advantage of a limited-time special.

Trust us, we get it. Being a business owner isn’t easy and requires a lot of initiative and determination but we’re here to tell you that there are simple ways to grow your business by selling yourself visually. How?
Two words: creating image content to define your brand identity.
But does it really make a difference? Well, we’re here to tell you that, yes, it makes a huge difference. You see, branding is important because it not only creates a lasting impression but it allows clients to get to know you a little better before creating their own opinions and perceptions. Branding images done well, also identify what someone can expect from your company, product, or service.
That’s why we created this blog post. Brystan Studios will help to guide you on how to create a branding system for your business through the power of images. Yes, images! Who would have thought?
We live in a culture that is deprived of time, because of this creating a strong visual identity mixed with style and intention is bound to build trust and rapport with both existing and new clients. That said, since business and branding images require style and intention, it’s important to capture the right shots.
The takeaway? A successful brand identity results in a positive brand image. So what type of images you should focus on taking to make sure your brand stands out above the rest? Let’s take a look!
1. Images that reflect the authentic you
Aesthetic is important, but it’s not enough to win new clients. Your images must be in line with your brand or business values. Can you deliver authenticity within your images? Your audience will use the images to create an impression of you! Our advice? Just be you! It’s that simple.
2. Images with captivating backgrounds
The scenery is crucial since it’s conveying a lot about what you are trying to advertise about yourself. For example, if you are a personal trainer, it might be a nice idea to take photos at the gym or even an open park wearing gym clothes. Or, maybe you’re a therapist and want to take images in your office.
Either way, your brand imagery should have a goal. Do you want to elicit a calm or energetic feeling? Should it be indoor or outdoor? Where do you feel the most comfortable? The scenery tells your brand story.
3. Images with consistent brand colors
It’s always a good idea to make sure the colors you wear for your brand system reflect your personality and business. At this point, you most likely have a consistent palette that reflects your brand.
We recommend using this palette when deciding on what colors to wear or what background colors to add within your images. Mostly because it creates consistency and tells a brand story.
4. Images that showcase your brand’s values
What are your brand values? Write them out before your shoot and reflect on them. Your images should deliver on the experience you are reflecting within your images.
Ask yourself, what do I want to express to the outside world? What do I want to get out of each image? Use this as a guideline and watch your images shine.
5. Images that feature natural movement
Poses are great and important but it’s also crucial to have images that showcase you naturally. We can learn from some brand like mural wallpaper brand EverWallpaper, they do a perfect job on this. Do you cringe at the super-corporate, ‘fake handshake’ images? Us too. Avoid images that are generic or cliche. Be you. Laugh, walk, or work on a task to get some natural shots of what you do daily.
Invite a current client to join in the images to show what your brand is really about. Be prepared to take photos of your product, workspace, or branding theme. For example, if you’re a chef, it would be authentic and worthwhile to take pictures of your kitchen space or even photos of you cooking in your kitchen. Bottom line: people are drawn to authenticity.
Conclusion
Creating images that keep your brand up-to-date can be a huge challenge but it doesn’t have to be. Just remember, brand imagery is about connecting with your audience visually as a means to create engagement. These images will also accompany your marketing so you have to love them. More than that, the images you select reflect your brand personality so always be true to yourself.

Professional photoshoots are your chance to build your brand. In today’s environment, showing who you are can be just as important as showing what you do. Beach location shoots have given our clients the perfect chance to create that balance.
To help you prepare for your location shoot, we’re sharing tips on how you can showcase the best parts of who you are.
Design Your Theme
Your shoot includes a consultation session where we discuss what you want to achieve. This is an important step in planning for your shoot and goes beyond determining what professional persona you want to showcase. Your personality as an individual is why business will want to work with you, so this is a great opportunity to reflect and determine how you want to represent yourself.
Plan Your Look
In addition to the aesthetic of your photoshoot, you’ll want to plan outfits, accessories, makeup and hair that match the vibe. You’ll want to do this at least a few weeks in advance of your shoot (our team will schedule a consultation with you to discuss). It is helpful to come prepared with some inspirational shots you have found on your own. This is a good time to think about how many outfits you will want and if you can reduce the number of changes by repeating certain clothing items or accessories with slight tweaks.
Take Care of Your Body
During the planning phase, you’ll have scheduled a date, set your aesthetic and planned your looks. One important step in preparing for your photoshoot is taking care of your body and preparing it for the day of. The week before your shoot, maintain a healthy, sodium- and starch-light diet to avoid uncomfortable bloating. We also recommend drinking plenty of water and limit alcohol intake (avoid it if possible) to help avoid dull and dry skin. Most importantly, get your beauty rest!

Walking on sand and watching the waves is just one of the reasons to love summers on the beach. It’s the calm we need and crave before returning to the hustle and bustle of back to school, busy season at the office, and prepping for the holidays. It’s a moment in time to savor.
This summer, our team had the amazing opportunity to create beautiful works of art, capturing moments to remember on the beach. It was an experience we couldn’t resist sharing with you.
The sand between your toes, the sun kissing your little one’s cheeks, and dipping into the soothing waters. These are just a few reasons to go to the beach with your family. The beach is a place you can build fond memories that last a lifetime while tickling the brain and imagination and activating “play mode.” Capturing these memories can help you savor those precious moments to last throughout the year and seasons to come.
Senior Portraits are a once in a lifetime moment to capture. They are a reminder to forever look back on that time between childhood and adulthood. Senior Portraits at the beach are unlike any other photoshoot experience and give a unique look and feel that stands out. When you’re at the beach, you’re your most natural, beautiful self and it’s a wonderful backdrop for a candid moments throughout the entire session.
Even professional shoots to boost your business are a great fit for beach photoshoots. When you’re at the beach, you can unplug and recharge, which can create the perfect candid moments to capture on camera. Many professionals feel they have to do professional photoshoots in the environment they work in, but as social trends have shown us, it’s great to show your social and professional network the many sides of who you are. And, a beachside photoshoot is a great opportunity to do just that!

This stunning client, Dr. Nancy came to us last year to do a Lux 4-Look Boudoir Session in our studio and one of her looks included our new Vanity Fair set that complimented her beautiful, athletic body so well.
Nancy and Lori had such a wonderful connection and she loved her experience so much, she couldn’t wait to come back. After she viewed her images, she exclaimed that Lori will be her photographer for life!
Since Nancy was last in the studio, she went through a 90-day health challenge that she created. Her results were incredible and she was so proud, so she wanted to celebrate her accomplishments with another 4-look boudoir/classic beauty session.
This time we used our newly renovated white room, along with a few other sets with new props and then took her to the yellow wild flowers with our new vintage peacock chair for her final look.
She has also chose Lori to take her Business and Branding images for website, social media and book release (more of that to come later)!
Here’s what she had to say about the session:
“Lori Brystan and her fantastic team at Brystan Studios are simply the best of the best. I am so impressed each time we work on a project together. Her photographs are artistic, top notch quality, and each frame tells a beautiful story that flows and creates a priceless memory. Lori’s creative eye and ability to translate what you desire conceptually is mind blowing. I can’t say enough about the experience you have from the moment you sit in her brainstorming session to the time you get your finished photographs in hand published in a gorgeous book. If you want the best, choose Lori Brystan.” – Nancy
We love seeing our clients grow and evolve, and then come to use to capture these transformative moments in their lives. Whether it’s only a few months or a few years apart, it is so special to be apart of each of your lives. We thank you for coming to us to celebrate who you are!
